The pre convention golf tournament was held at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Course on November 30, 2010. This was made possible through the joint effort of the USPGA and Patriot Pharmaceuticals, the latter being the major sponsor of the event.
The 52nd Annual Convention marked another fruitful calendar year for Philippine Urological Association, Inc. (PUA) immediate past president Dennis P. Serrano, MD. We were gracious hosts to international delegates who partook in the East Asia Society of Endourology and the Asia-Pacific Association of Pediatric Urologists. The global transformation of the practice of urology towards minimally invasive and robotic procedures were highlighted during the full packed 3-day conglomeration of interesting lectures and exciting live surgical demonstrations.
The activities of the gun club has been limited this year because of two successive gun bans, the first was for the national election and the second was for the local barangay election. It was for this reason that we were not able to conduct a shooting competition when we held our midyear convention in Cebu.
Two Thousand Ten is drawing to a close, an apt time to reflect on the year that will soon be part of history. It is indisputable that this year’s three most memorable moments that captured our undivided attention are: P-NOY’s overwhelming Victory at the Polls, the tragic Hostage Incident at the Quirino Grandstand and Manny Pacquiao’s legendary feat of winning an unprecedented Eight Boxing Division title.
This year’s PURA patterned itself from the glorious years of its predecessors yet invigorated new concepts to deliver its promise as the best training ground for future Urologists in the land. With the leadership of the very energetic Dr. Glenn Gatchalian (SLMC), the first general assembly was held at the Philippine College of Surgeons conference room last January to tackle the programs set for the year.
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 53rd Philippine Urological Association Annual Meeting. This year our meeting takes another twist. We shall be holding our convention in conjunction with the Second Joint Course of the Asian School of Urology (ASU) and the European School of Urology (ESU). This was made possible under the sponsorship of the Urological Association of Asia and the European Association of Urology.
