During the midyear convention held in Iloilo City, shooting competition was also held and Astellas Pharmaceutical sponsored this activity. This was also well attended by majority of the members and trophies were awarded to the winners. Astellas again sponsored another shooting competition held at Camp Karingal. This series of competition enabled the officials to categorize the member as to their shooting expertise and status. This will be used to rank the shooter as to what class do they belong and they will eventually be competing among the members of their category.

 

It is also a pleasure to announce that the PUA Gun Club has an official firing range. This is the Camp Karingal Firing Range in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City. A Memorandum of Agreement with the Range Master and the President of the PUA Gun Club was made for use of the firing range anytime. This would be subject to its rules and regulations. Shooting competitions could also be held here with prior arrangement. We have now applied for official accreditation with the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office pending completion of other paper requirements because we already have our official firing range. Once accredited, we will now apply for recognition by the Philippine Practical Shooting Association so that our shooting matches can be sanctioned.

 

Finally, this year’s activity will be culminated by the annual shooting competition to coincide with the last quarter PUA-Andros shoot fest also be held at Camp Karingal Firing Range. The members are all excited because raffle prizes will culminate this activity. The major prize will be a handgun, 1911 model and could be won by any member who has participated in the shoot fest. Presence would be required to win the prize.

 

We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with more shooting activities being planned. We are inviting all interested PUA members to join us. Even those who have no shooting experience can join and we are very much willing to train them so that they can enjoy this sport activity.
